Note from the President

Why are we having a 74th Anniversary Gala? Because we’re 74 years old and we’re not just stayin’ alive, we’re thriving! If that doesn’t deserve a fun celebration, then I don’t know what does.

While the Port Angeles Community Players are the 2nd oldest performing arts group in the county, we’re not acting old. We’re acting like a hot new start-up theater (full of energy and enthusiasm), producing great shows, some that have never been seen on the peninsula, and filling the Playhouse with happy patrons.

Big audiences are great, but they also make us more aware of our very old seats. We want our audience to not only see great shows, but to do so comfortably in an attractive venue. So we’re combining a celebration (with every fun thing you’d expect from a 70’s themed party) with a fundraiser to help continue the makeover of the Playhouse.

The building received a gorgeous new paint job 2 years ago. Last year we gave the front of house a great makeover (more to come) and new marquee lighting. Last week we put up new curtains (thanks to an incredibly generous donor). And the next step is a replacement of our nearly 100-year-old narrow, worn-out seats.

PACP has filled over 100,000 seats for quality live theater entertainment. Close to 1,500 local individuals (of all ages) have had the privilege of performing on the Playhouse stage. It is a treasure for this community.

Come, have fun, get funky, celebrate what we’ve done and be a part of keeping live theater thriving in this community for another 75 years. I’ll see you on the dance floor 😊
