Front of House Volunteers for Main Stage Performances

Ushers arrive 45 minutes prior to opening

House Managers arrive 1 hour prior to curtain time.

Ushers need to be able to navigate the steps to help patrons find seats.

Never volunteered to be House Manager before? We’ll train you! Do you have a friend who enjoys theater? Why not invite them along to be an usher with you! Being an usher is a great way to see the play and get to know the rest of the board and many of the regular volunteers at the Playhouse.

OTHER MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTIONS to the Playhouse

In Kind Donation – Perhaps you have a surplus of paint or lumber that you would be willing to donate for sets for a future production or a stash of fabric, sewing notions, patterns, vintage clothing in good condition that could be used for costumes?  Cleaning supplies, office supplies, – these are all things that the theater needs and uses and when we get a donation of these items that we can use it means we save money and can stretch our budget that much further.

Playhouse Volunteer – The work of the Playhouse goes on year-round. The real stars of the Playhouse are not actors on stage, but those who volunteer and do the work behind the scenes to keep the Playhouse working and running smoothly. There are a host of ways to volunteer and make a difference, from helping with the facility (gardening, building upkeep, painting,), helping on one of several committees (fundraising, gala planning, season planning) data entry, social media, and more.  The Playhouse provides training and can plug you in to small projects or big, long-term projects – whatever your interest and availability.

We need help with all things administrative including social media and marketing, scanning old materials and digitally archiving 60 years of history. There is so much to do just to keep the playhouse maintained. And, now with no people in the audience, it’s the perfect time to clean, declutter and sanitize. Costumes, props and all-things backstage always need your help. We are following COVID procedures to limit exposure. so masks must be worn in the playhouse. If you are not comfortable being in the building, we can find something for you to do either outside or at your location.

Production Volunteer – It takes many, many people to bring a production to the stage. The Playhouse is ALWAYS looking for willing people who want to create magic on the stage and who are wanting to learn new skills. We provide training for people to hang stage lights and operate the light board, work as a front house usher or House Manager, work backstage as a crew member, dresser, stage manager.  Do you enjoy sewing – we would love to have your help making new costumes.  Do you have experience styling hair, we would love to have your expertise as a hairdresser or wig master for one of our shows.  You can swing a hammer or a paint brush?  We need able bodied men and women to design and leg up our sets.  We offer flexible hours for retired people and people who work during the day – we can help you find your special niche where you are NEEDED and VALUED and APPRECIATED.

We have lots of fun behind the scenes as well as in front of the curtain. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer in some capacity, you can:

IMMEDIATE NEEDS

FACILITIES
Wanted: Carbon life-forms.
Preferably humans who know (or could learn) which end of a screwdriver or paintbrush to use. But we’ll accept non-humans (“fetch Fido”) if they can carry a screwdriver from our shop to one of our highly trained master screw-turning engineers (currently they’re all human).
Seriously, the PACP facilities committee is looking to grow our team:
We need some volunteers, both with and without handy-person type skills.
Our building is an amazing facility, but at 50 years-old it needs some TLC to keep things running safely and smoothly for decades of live theater to come.
There are a wide variety of projects/tasks on our list, and it grows almost daily. Even if you have no skills, but consider yourself a good helper, we would love to have you join our team.
You might even learn a few valuable skills you could use at your own residence. Pick and choose to help only when it fits your schedule/interest.
Please e-mail us with your level of interest/skills and we’ll be sure to contact you when an appropriate project comes along.
We may even give you a secret tour to the hidden parts of the building that the public never sees {insert scary Halloween sound effect here}.
COSTUMES
The many cinematic adaptations of Jane Austen and the recent Netflix breakout hit Bridgerton have created a strong appreciation for the elegant look of Regency era clothing. The classic look of late Georgian fashion will be showcased on stage soon at the Playhouse in their upcoming production of “Miss Bennet – Christmas at Pemberley” which will run December 3 – 19th.
Many clever hands are needed to help craft these empire costumes, both machine work and hand work as well as cutting out and pressing.  Would you like to help? Director Richard Stephens is looking for stitchers with a sense of adventure who would like to try their hand at Regency costuming.
“We have projects for men and women, some are easy and some quite intricate. We can match willing people up to a project that will suit them and their experience”, explains Richard.
If you would be willing to help with costumes on this upcoming production, please contact director Richard Stephens at 360-461-1617 or email him at dramarex@gmail.com
